On the third try (rained out, snowed out in Feb and Mar), the Everybody Loves Raymond gravel ride actually happened! A beautiful spring day with the Sierra foothills in full green mode. Flowing rivers and waterfalls. And yet the gravel roads were in pretty decent shape.

But... my streak of mechanical failures is ongoing. About 15 miles in, my shifter failed. After some roadside tinkering with the help of other friendly riders, we managed to get the derailleur locked into 4th gear. That meant that anything over ~4% was too steep to pedal and I would spin out between 8-9mph :-) Yeah. Singlespeed in the mountains with a few thousand feet and 20 miles to go. Adventure!
